Background
To Racing And Breeding
My
mother inherited my grandfather's horses and colours in 1963. Together
my parents formed Marjeanne Stud and have bred the likes of Please
be True, Best of the Best, Making Mischief and Honeybunch, Lots ‘n
Lots and Mon Cher.
I
inherited a love for horses & my teenage years were spent riding
my part-bred Arab filly Silken Lady. Unfortunately, due to a riding
accident, I no longer ride, but continue my passion through racing
and breeding Thoroughbreds.
In 1996 I applied for my own colours and my life now revolves around
the well being of my horses, the excitement they bring when racing and
the joy of a new foal. However, the birth of my son Darby, overshadowed
this passion and while racing and horses are still very important to
me, he has pride of place in my heart.
My business, Racing Manager cc, serves the racing industry by providing
a full bookkeeping service, owner administration and VAT administration,
salaries and wages, Trainer & Stud Farm accounts including split
billing and Syndicate management as well as Insurance
It is was privilege being elected to Western Province Racing's Board
of Stewards and since amalgamation it is an honour to be on the Western
Province Racing Association for Gold Circle.
Influences
My
father, Martin, has been a racing enthusiast for many years and
I used to accompany him to racing stables on Sunday mornings -
to Jackie Bell, Johnny Cawcutt and Mike Bass, and, more recently,
Glen Puller. My mother, Jeanne, who is President of World Maccabi
Union has always been an inspiration to me – it is a new
age where women count (thanks Mom).
Support
Team
My
assistants Shamiela and Simone. My trainers Glen Puller, Mike Bass, Mike
Stewart, Mike Azzie and Stephen Page for their care and expertise.
And, of course, the jockeys, for bringing home the winners.
Best
Horse Moments
Aside
from every winner my parents and I every had, winning the IGN Gold Cup
with Sciantiso and the Hooked on Racing Syndicate. More recently,
Coral Glow winning on J & B Met Day 2001 and of course Storm
Classic my first foal, now a two time winner at 3 (see pic below
of her @ 3 weeks). But there is very little to beat the thrill
of winning so every win is a wonderful moment.

My
Wish For The Future Of The Sport
I
wish for racing to prosper, with new owners from all walks of life. The
excitement and thrill of racing to be shared, whether by individuals,
partnerships, syndicates or companies.
There is very little in life that beats the thrill of winning.
